A third generation resident of the Salinas area, Aaron Johnson grew up in an agriculture family. His grandfather’s family grew broccoli, lettuce and other vegetables for Mann Packing, Merrill Farms and other local produce companies. His father started a grape management company in the 1970s before co-founding Lockwood Vineyards.
This connection to the Salinas Valley’s rich agricultural tradition inspired Aaron to study viticulture at Fresno State. His exposure to the increasing regulatory structure in agricultural business practices piqued his interest in law. Aaron earned his Juris Doctorate from San Joaquin College of Law in 1997 and a Master of Laws in Taxation from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1998.
Aaron practices primarily real estate and agriculture law, which encompasses a variety of issues including land use, zoning, leasing, business and property contracts, and estate planning.
In addition to his legal work, Aaron currently serves as president of Monterey County Cattlemen’s Association and has served as president of the Hartnell College the Board of Trustees. He has served on the Hartnell College Foundation Board, the Monterey County Workforce Investment Board and the Government Affairs Committee for Monterey County Hospitality Association.
